I was twenty nine years old when my mother died. Even though it was many years ago, not a day goes by that I don’t think of her. She was a wonderful person. She could do it all and made it look easy. She worked full time, raised a family, was active in the community, was active in her church, helped with local charities, volunteered at our school, and was a friend to anyone who needed a kind word or a shoulder to lean on. As Mother’s Day approaches I am very grateful to my beloved Mom and both of my beloved Grandmothers (also deceased) for being such wonderful examples of how to raise a family while having a career and remembering to give back to others along the way. Even though, I am the first in the family to be a Dentist, I find that having a family oriented dental practice helps to create a healthy atmosphere for my patients and my team. I love being a mom to my wonderful children. I hope that I can set a good example for them, just as my mom did for me. I am grateful that being a dentist allows me to provide excellent care for my sweet patients and also gives me time to be with my family.

Marlena said, “I’m so very grateful for so many things this Mother’s Day. God blesses me every day and for starters what I mean is I’m blessed to still have my mother, my granddaughter Ivy who was just born May the 1st, my daughter-in-law who gets to celebrate her very 1stMother’s Day and for my son Anthony… my gift this year, for which I’m so thankful was to get to see him become a father.”
